Yamal Could Play Spain's World Cup Opener

Spain's national team manager Luis de la Fuente believes 18-year-old Lamine Yamal may be fit for the World Cup opener against Cape Verde on June 15 despite his hamstring injury.

Yamal, who suffered the hamstring injury while taking a penalty for Barcelona on April 22, won't feature against Iraq on Thursday, but De la Fuente is optimistic about his chances for the opener.

''If nothing changes, he could be ready to play against Cape Verde. It doesn't mean he will definitely play. Maybe some minutes, maybe just training to be ready for the next match,'' said the manager. esporist.org
