Two Iranian Footballers Granted Australian Citizenship

Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh have been granted Australian citizenship following their high-profile protest during the Asian Cup.

The players were branded traitors in Iran for not singing the anthem but expressed pride in their new status. Pasandideh and Ramezanisadeh were part of a group of seven from Iran’s delegation that sought protection in Australia. palladian.co.za

They are the first members of the team to be granted citizenship since the protest in March.
