Colorado QB Had Double Legal Alcohol Limit When Died

Colorado backup quarterback Dominiq Ponder had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system when he crashed and died in a single-car accident, according to an autopsy report.

The autopsy report obtained by USA TODAY Sports on April 6 states Ponder's blood-alcohol content was 0.167 g/100 mL, more than twice the legal limit for driving under the influence in Colorado. The 23-year-old lost control of his Tesla while negotiating a curve early March 1, burst through a guardrail, hit an electrical pole and rolled.

Ponder's family has started The Dominiq Ponder 722 Foundation in his honor to promote awareness about responsible decision-making. The foundation will fund scholarships for student-athletes, support community awareness initiatives, and help children's hospitals.
