Lakers Await MRI Results for Austin Reaves After Mavericks Scan Error

Austin Reaves’ availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Mavericks remains uncertain as the Lakers await his MRI results. Head coach JJ Redick revealed a second scan was necessary because the Mavericks initially imaged the wrong area.

Austin Reaves suffered a rib or back injury during Thursday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder but returned to finish with 15 points. Redick clarified the injury is more intercostal, rib, or oblique than back.

The MRI will determine if Reaves plays, though he is not yet ruled out. Additionally, Marcus Smart's availability will be decided before tip-off after suffering an ankle injury.
