Albon: Baku upgrade won't fix Williams' 2026 woes

Alex Albon has conceded that the Baku upgrade will not resolve Williams' struggles in the 2026 Formula 1 season, with the team now shifting focus to developing a competitive car for 2027.

Williams endured another difficult weekend in Hungary, their worst result of the season so far, as the team continues to struggle despite upgrades attempted at various circuits. The Grove outfit, which achieved multiple podiums in 2025, currently sits ninth in the 2026 championship with only 11 points, none of which have been scored since the Monaco Grand Prix in June.

With the 2026 season likely to remain challenging, the team's priority has now shifted entirely to developing a competitive package for the 2027 campaign. Albon's comments confirm that Williams faces an uphill battle for the remainder of the current season as they work to overcome what appears to be fundamental performance issues. mchezo.co.za
