Mets Back Mendoza Despite Poor Start

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns confirmed the team does not plan to fire manager Carlos Mendoza despite the club's 10-21 record and 7-19 April showing.

Stearns told MLB.com, "We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more. We don't view this as a manager problem, and we don't intend to make a change." Mendoza is in the final guaranteed year of his three-year deal, which includes a club option for 2027.

The announcement shifts focus back to the players, who have largely underperformed expectations this season. Stearns executed an ambitious offseason plan that has not been rewarded, with most new arrivals failing to meet expectations. goldparty.lat
