India’s Canoe Slalom campaign came to an end at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan on Friday, with all three Indian paddlers falling short of the semi-finals.
Shikha Chouhan competed in the Women’s Kayak Cross individual event, while Hitesh Kewat and Pradhyumna Singh Rathod were in action in the Men’s Kayak Cross individual event.
Men’s Kayak Cross
Pradhyumna produced a decent effort, clocking 79.85 seconds to finish ninth, while Hitesh had a difficult outing, finishing 18th. Pradhyumna’s performance, however, was enough to take him through to the quarter-finals.
His campaign came to an end in the quarter-finals, where he finished fourth in Quarter-final 2. With only the top two paddlers advancing, Pradhyumna narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals.
Women’s Kayak Cross
Shikha also made a positive start, clocking 83.31 seconds to finish ninth and secure her place in the quarter-finals.
However, like Pradhyumna, she could not progress beyond the last eight, finishing third in her quarter-final. With only the top two paddlers advancing, Shikha missed out on a semi-final berth, bringing the curtains down on India’s Canoe Slalom campaign at the Asian Games.
