In the case of Sooryavanshi, it is critical that we do not retrofit him into old templates. The next generation does not need to “learn” T20; they need frameworks to optimise it. The modern prodigy faces three kinds of pressure:

1. Everything happens faster in a career – selection, fame, and scrutiny.
2. The T20 format rewards instinct but punishes inconsistency brutally.
3. Social media can build or break reputations overnight.

In this context, it is critical not to confuse Sooryavanshi in his natural game. Do not place him in roles that restrict his ability to express himself. The Kohli model of fitness, recovery, and mental conditioning is no longer optional, and it will be important to see how quickly he can be supported in adopting it seamlessly. It will also be essential to separate identity from outcomes and not allow him to absorb the volatility of the modern game. Not every innings needs to be about impact. Let him fail without consequence. Finally, ensure that the noise economy outside the pitch is filtered out by the relevant stakeholders.

A slightly different perspective is that one must not overcoach a brilliant talent like him. What the Rajasthan Royals have demonstrated is a template where they let him be and plan around him.

In a format obsessed with outcomes, the true innovation might simply be building a system that measures how well we protect instinct – not just how often we convert it into runs.

Beijing [China], April 8 (ANI): India’s rising star Ayush Shetty delivered a statement performance, upsetting World No. 7 and Hong Kong Open 2025 champion Li Shi Feng of China in straight games, 21-13, 21-16 in the Badminton Asian Championship.

Despite the former World No.3 Li’s strong start in both games, the Indian youngster dominated the later stages to advance to the pre-quarters. In the opening game, Ayush fought back early to level at 4-4, with Li holding a slight edge until 7-7, as per a press release from the Badminton Association of India.

From there, the US Open 2025 champion seized control, overpowering the home favourite to take the game 21-13.

The second game followed a similar pattern, with Li initially applying pressure and leading into the mid-phase.

Ayush, however, drew level multiple times before shifting gears at 13-13. The youngster surged ahead with six consecutive points, closing out the match 21-16 in 51 minutes.

India’s best-ever performances at the Badminton Asia Championships include two gold medals — Dinesh Khanna in men’s singles (1965) and the Satwik-Chirag duo in men’s doubles (2023).
